My life hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows. There were times when I felt lost, unsupported, and on an island by myself…following a path carved by nothingness “except” the quiet but powerful voice of my heart’s desires. A spark of something bigger flickering within me – a love for life, a faith in something greater and a deep desire to connect. This inner light guided me on a journey of self-evaluation and self-discovery, and it's this journey I want to share with you.
For too long, we've all been influenced to fit into or follow pre-defined molds and labels. We’re strongly impacted by the societal controlled and predetermined paths that are pushed on us…all forgetting the unique melody waiting to be sung from our own hearts. But what if we stopped ‘following’ where the majority is headed? What if we stopped trying so hard to “fit into a mold” created by someone or something that doesn’t even know us? What if we asked ourselves, “why am I doing what I’m doing?” What if we simply put our hands on our heart and reignited and remembered the power we hold within?
A Life of Love, Gratitude, and Embracing Challenges
What I share with you isn’t just about overcoming challenges; it’s a celebration of the strength and resilience that resides in each of us from everything that we’ve faced, overcomed, survived, failed, tripped on, ignored, lived... It’s about rediscovering the love that lies at the core of our being – love for ourselves, for others, and for the beautiful tapestry of life itself.
Imagine a life where your choices are guided by love and faith, not fear; where you embrace your imperfections with grace and learn from your mistakes with compassion; where you realize what the universe is showing you with every single experience that comes your way. Imagine living with a heart overflowing with gratitude for the gifts, big and small, that surround you each day. Imagine recognizing the miracles and blessings from every experience in life and embracing each one with faith in knowing it all happened to help you grow, learn and evolve…to take you to the next step, the next level in life. Imagine, please imagine!
Gratitude After Loss: A Story of Connection
I'm very grateful for the experience of losing my sister as a teenager for many powerful reasons of which I’ll share a few. But please don't get me wrong, I would absolutely rather have her here (for sure!), and if I had the power to bring her back, you better believe I’d do it in a heartbeat! But the reality is, I can’t control that and can't change it. However, I certainly had to accept it and find the blessings in it all. And it is these blessings, and the deep appreciation for the time spent with the two of us connecting as best friends as teenagers hanging out together and doing everything sisters do, which I’m eternally grateful for.
I appreciate my sister’s strength and courage to keep fighting against Leukemia after going into remission twice (but losing to it the third time in her senior year of high school). I may not have understood my loss and the huge void at first (or for a long time), but I had to embrace and accept the loss of the physical relationship we had. And to understand life without her here physically. It’s certainly not easy losing someone you love, and not understanding “why” it happens. Any type of loss forces us to confront life eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart, to recognize what’s left, to step into the profound touch of gratitude of what was and what is now to be. And, for me, to appreciate and embrace the beautiful connection my sister and I have had for decades now only just in a different way…a special non-physical connection. Call it what you’d like, but for me it’s a deep spiritual connection that has opened my heart with so much faith and gratitude for the power of love and connectedness no matter if we’re together physically or not. There is so much to be blossomed from every single experience in life. Be open; search; listen; feel; connect; love; appreciate; embrace! Be grateful for it all, including the hurt because this is what makes you stronger and what pushes you to “live!”
Cultivating Gratitude: Simple Practices for a More Fulfilling Life
With that said, gratitude isn't just a feeling; it's a practice. By consciously cultivating an attitude of gratitude, we shift our perspective and open ourselves to a world of surprises, abundance and joy. Here are a few simple ways to weave gratitude into the fabric of your daily life:
The Gratitude Jar: Start a gratitude jar. Every day, write down something you're grateful for, big or small, on a small piece of paper and place it in your jar. It could be a delicious cup of coffee, a supportive friend, or a breathtaking sunset. Taking a moment to reflect on these blessings strengthens your appreciation for life's simple joys. Once your jar is full, mix it up and begin to pull one of your gifts of gratitude each day you feel down, uneasy, emotional, stressed. Allow your own special gifts of gratitude to remind you, tickle your heart and lift you up!
The Gratitude List: Before bed each night, take a few minutes to jot down three things you're grateful for that day. This practice helps you end the day on a positive note and trains your mind to focus on the good.
Mindful Moments: Throughout your day, pause and savor the little things. The warmth of the sun on your skin, the laughter of a loved one, the perfect bite of your favorite food. These mindful moments cultivate an awareness of the beauty that surrounds us.
Gratitude Letters: Take some time to write a heartfelt letter of gratitude to someone who has impacted your life. Expressing your appreciation not only strengthens your bond but also reminds you (and them!) of the positive influences in your life. It’s a great way to touch your heart as well as the heart of another.
A touch of gratitude isn't just about feeling good; it's a powerful tool for transformation and shifting your energy to a higher frequency of positivity, love and faith. By incorporating these practices into your life, you'll find yourself feeling happier, more hopeful, and more connected to the world around you. This shift in perspective paves the way for a life filled with love, synchronicities, purpose, and the joy of living authentically.
This is my gift to you, offered with a heart overflowing with gratitude for the opportunity to connect. Are you ready to embark on this adventure of self-evaluation and self-discovery?
I can't wait to hear your story and witness the light that shines so brightly within you.
