Love Goggles or Fear Goggles: Seeing the World Through a Different Lens

Updated: May 27

Have you ever noticed how your mood can completely change the way you see the world? A sunny day with a gentle breeze feels full of possibility, while a rainy, gloomy day might make everything seem like a struggle. This isn't just about the weather; it's about the lens through which we choose to view life. Is it through love goggles or Fear Goggles?

Love Goggles: A Positive Perspective

Imagine putting on a pair of "love goggles." Through these rose-colored lenses, everything appears brighter, more hopeful, and brimming with potential. Love, in this context, isn't just about romantic feelings. It's about a broader sense of trust, compassion, and a belief in yourself and your Higher Power and the Universe.

Here's what life looks like through love goggles:

  • Challenges become opportunities: Obstacles are seen as stepping stones on your path to growth and challenges don’t seem so difficult to overcome.

  • People are seen as allies: You believe in the good intentions of others and focus on building positive connections.

  • The world feels abundant: You see possibilities everywhere and trust that your needs will be met.

Living with love goggles doesn't mean ignoring potential problems. It simply means approaching them with a sense of faith, optimism and a belief that you can (and will) find solutions with ease.

Fear Goggles: A Limiting Perspective

Now, imagine a different pair of glasses: "fear goggles." Through these dark lenses, the world seems full of threats and uncertainties. Fear whispers doubts, diminishes your light, and keeps you playing small.

Here's what life looks like through fear goggles:

  • Every setback is a failure: Mistakes are seen as confirmation of your limitations, leading to discouragement.

  • People are seen as potential threats: You become defensive and guarded, hindering trust, connection and your own ability to shine your light.

  • The world feels out of control: You worry about lack, fitting in and struggling to embrace what’s in front of you.

Living with fear goggles can create a self-fulfilling prophecy. When you constantly anticipate negativity, you'll likely experience more of it.

What is the Root of Your Choices: Love or Fear?

tree results of love and fear

Every decision we make, big or small, stems from one of these two core foundational items: love or fear. Love motivates us to pursue our dreams, fills us with confidence and gives us the courage and strength to step into our power and uniqueness. Fear, on the other hand, holds us back and pulls us down, keeping us in our comfort zone with little to no growth, diminishes hopes and makes us feel as though nothing is worth the energy or time.

Here are some signs you might be living from a fear-based perspective:

  • You constantly talk yourself out of opportunities or come up with every creative excuse to avoid following your heart and your Truth (not enough time or money; too tired; “I’ll wait until…..”, etc.)

  • You have a strong inner critic that focuses only on your flaws

  • You prioritize your excuses and your blame or projection on others vs looking yourself in the mirror, owning your stuff and having faith in where your heart is guiding you

Shifting Your Perspective: From Fear to Love

comes out from fear forest to Love on the horizon

The good news is that we have the power to choose which lens we wear. While fear can be a valuable tool from the perspective of pointing out what we avoid in life, it should be just that (and nothing more). Until fear is completely conquered, allow it to be a recognition of where we’re held back in life and work to understand if the reason is valid or false (FEAR = False Emotions Appearing Real).

Here are some tips to cultivate a love-based perspective:

  • Have faith! Without faith and belief in yourself and your Higher Power, what’s the point?!

  • Practice gratitude. Focusing on the good things in your life will lift you / your energy to a higher vibrational level which will naturally bring about a sense of optimism and trust.

  • Challenge the hell out of your negative thoughts and beliefs. When fear steps in, question why you have that fear; ask yourself if that fear is real and valid. Rip out the root of that fear and step forward with faith, courage and heart!

  • Start small. Don't try to overhaul your life overnight. Begin by taking a small step outside your comfort zone. Each step becomes easier and easier because you will experience greatness along the way and you'll want nothing but more of the beauty of what love and faith bring!

By consciously shifting your perspective from fear to love, you will begin to make choices that empower you to live a more fulfilling life. This is fact!!
